Responsible Sourcing

If something is beautiful only on the outside, is it still beautiful? To be true to ourselves and our customers, we uphold high standards not only in the quality of what you see, but also in what lies beneath the surface. Thanks to the increase of global awareness to social and environmental practices concerning diamonds and precious metals, we can gain a better picture of the entire supply chain of our raw materials, as well as their environmental and social impact. When our customers purchase from Dalumi, we want them to rest assured that the diamond or piece of jewelry they now own is created by a company that respects and treasures the planet as well the people who work for us. We do everything in our power to ensure that our raw materials are of high quality, while adhering to responsible practices every step of the way. Thus, we can minimize our global footprint while positively contributing to the communities in which we operate.

Responsible Mining

While diamonds are our raison d’etre, gold and silver play an important role in crafting jewelry. As a company that also creates remarkable jewelry collections, we aim to contribute to improving global mining standards by working only with sources we can vouch for. By forging close relationships with suppliers we can gain a better understanding of the approach mines take in addressing human rights, labor practices, contribution to local communities, sustainability and care for the environment. The Best Practice Principles (BPP) is the highest professional, ethical, social, environmental, and legal standard in the diamond industry. Dalumi is fully compliant with the BPP standard and undergoes yearly audits by a third party. In addition, every shipment sent or received by Dalumi is accompanied by a “Kimberly Process Certificate”.

Kimberley Process

The Kimberley Process (KP), established in 2003, is a commitment to remove conflict diamonds from the global supply chain. Today, KP members are responsible for stemming 99.8% of the global production of conflict diamonds. The KP initiative has been a huge success, but we believe it is time to expand it to include and improve human rights and labor exploitation in the diamond supply chain, mainly at the source. To that end, Dalumi invests in supporting the growth and development of workers and communities in the diamond sector. In Gaborone, Botswana’s capital, our diamond cutting and polishing facility provides skilled jobs, sustainable incomes, and training and development.
